In the Uravan Belt, 63 million pounds of uranium has been removed. There are 34 active uranium mines in Western Colorado. Grand Junction is located west of the largest uramium mining in the United States, and was the leader of uranium production in the 20th century. Lots of uranium has been dated back to Tertiary times, suggesting that the uranium moved here en masse. Large amounts of uranium have been mined from the Shinarump and Moss Rock Cliffs.
